Cardio/strength

CardioAbs Plus: This 30-minute class emphasizes the importance of overall core strength. Class will focus on the abdominal muscles, glutes, back, and more. Core muscle stability allows your body to function more efficiently, reduce the risk of injury, and improve your posture. 

Boot Camp Circuit: A high-energy, calorie-burning, fat-melting, sweat-pouring workout. Although the concept of circuit training is not new, each and every class will be. Circuits will incorporate resistance, free weights, and core as well as cardio exercises. 

Cardio Power Sculpt: Get total body conditioning with a blend of strength training, cardiovascular exercise, and flexibility. This well-balanced class will target the major muscle groups while pushing participants through a high-energy workout, using your own body weight, resistance bands, Bosu, stability balls, and free weights to challenge and tone. The goal of this class is to improve cardiovascular health, overall strength, and balance. Variety to challenge everyone.

Club Strength: Barbell class that strengthens your entire body in just 60 minutes. You will target and challenge all major muscle groups and help improve strength and endurance.

Indoor Cycling: Led by certified spin instructors, this class simulates an outdoor ride filled with hills, sprints, and other terrains. Pedal your way through an intense power-based cycling class that will generate a serious sweat. This class will also teach new cycling enthusiasts how to adjust the bike, proper breathing techniques, and cycling body alignment, giving you the most effective workout possible.

Kickboxing: Need a pickup in your workout routine? Try our kickboxing classes. This total body workout consists of jabs, hooks, uppercuts, and kicks designed to provide you with both cardio and strength workout in one class.  No equipment is used and gloves are not required. Newcomers are always welcome.

Belly Dancing: You will learn step by step the basic moves of belly dance commonly seen in belly dancing: hip circles, hip & shoulder shimmies, hip drop – kick, figure-8’s, snake arms & undulation. All moves are broken down in to easy to follow steps and are repeated in each class.

R.I.P.P.E.D. : This high-energy workout masterfully combines an easy, yet effective cardiovascular routine interlaced with weights and resistance. It's a combination that drives up your endurance and gets your body moving. R.I.P.P.E.D. will keep you motivated by challenging your muscles and cardiovascular system. This fun workout set to upbeat music will produce results you won’t get from walking on the treadmill.

Zumba: Zumba® fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program that will blow you away.  This class is 60 minutes of exhilarating calorie-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life. The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat.

HOT HULA fitness® is a fun, and exciting dance workout. This class isolates your larger muscle groups, increasing strength and definition to your core with specific emphasis on the abs, glutes, quads and arms. Inspired by the dances of the Pacific Islands, set to the sounds of traditional Polynesian drum beats fused with funky reggae music. All ages and fitness levels will enjoy HOT HULA fitness®.

Mind/body

Mind BodyBody Balance and Flow: This easy to follow, low-impact class combines the ancient forms of Tai Chi, yoga and Pilates to help you build strength and flexibility and improve balance. Controlled breathing combines with a careful structure of stretches, movements, and poses set to  music. You will leave class feeling calm and centered.

Pilates Mat: This mat class consists of a series of non-impact exercises that help improve muscle control, flexibility and coordination. Pilates exercises are designed to maximize abdominal strength, while toning and increasing flexibility in the rest of the body.

Restorative Pilates/Stretch: This restorative movement class has been designed to provide a comprehensive and progressive therapeutic recovery program for every participant. We will help you learn to stretch, strengthen, and lengthen the major muscle groups correctly and safely. Restorative Stretch is a slower-paced class.

Yoga:  This is a great class for beginners to explore the fundamentals and basics of asana (pose) to develop a safe and healthy approach to yoga practice. Breathing techniques are introduced, poses are broken down, variations and use of props are demonstrated to increase the freedom and mobility of the body. 

Just for you yoga:  Private and semi-private sessions for Peninsula Wellness Center members. Perfect for newcomers to yoga regular practitioners with new goals. Sessions are one-on-one or with two participants, in the ashtanga flow style of yoga, with a focus on breathing exercises. View flier.

Core Balance: This workout focuses on strengthening the core and improving your balance with challenging exercises that target the rectus abdominis, obliques, transverse abdominis, and lower back.  The flexibility exercises stretch the entire body with a focus on the back and hips. Do this workout after your regular cardio workout or on its own for a challenging, yet relaxing workout.

Tai Chi: Improve balance, agility, strength and coordination with this ancient form of martial arts

Qi gong: Qigong provides a full body energetic workout, with both an internal meditative and external muscular strength & endurance, balance & flexibility focus. Classes will focus on 3 key components to maximize the stress relief/health/fitness benefits of the practice:

  • Deep and synchronized breathing
  • Calming, clearing and focusing of the mind
  • Learning the 36 movements of this Qigong form

Aquatics

AquaticsAqua Zumba:  Aqua Zumba® is a safe, effective, and challenging water-based workout that integrates the Zumba formula and philosophy into traditional aqua fitness. Class is conducted in our hydrotherapy pool (89-92 degree temperature).  

Aquasize: Aquasize is a fantastic way to get and stay fit. The unique physical properties of water provide an ideal environment for exercise. Natural buoyancy of the water reduces weight-bearing stress, allowing a greater ease of movement with less strain on bones, joints, and muscles.  Class is conducted in our hydrotherapy pool (89-92 degree temperature).

Restorative Aqua: Conducted in our hydrotherapy pool (89-92 degree temperature), this class promotes overall cardiovascular fitness, strength, and flexibility using water-resistant exercises.

Aqua Boot Camp: An invigorating water workout, which includes cardiovascular conditioning, upper and lower body muscle toning, and flexibility using water-resistant exercises in a circuit format. Class is held in the hydrotherapy pool
